Background
Nepal
could not remain aloof from the wave of the democratic ideas and
feelings that spread after the Second World War. Thus, Jayatu
Sanskritam movement took its shape making educational demanding
with concealed political motive on the 1st of Asar 2004. This
movement gave the then regime a big shock and Jayatu Sanskritam
became a historical event for the democratic movement of Nepal.
On the occasion of 50th anniversary of the historical event and
with a year-long programme, Jayatu Sanskritam Movement of 2004
Golden Jubilee Programme was organised with a grandeur. The same
gathering decided to establish Jayatu Sanskritam as permanent
organisation under a seven-point programme. In the concluding
ceremony of the Golden Jubilee on Asar 12, 2055, a 13-member ad
hoc committee was formed. The committee prepared the constitution,
registered the organisation in the District Administration, Kathmandu
and formally started functioning. The registration number is 242/055-056.
The formal committee was formed by the first conference held on
29-30 Asar, 2056.
Objectives
This
organisation has been established in order to protect, promote
and propagate Sanskrit scholarship, and Sanskrit scholarship related
Aryan civilisation and to raise voice against the intervention
by the followers of the other religions. Once predominantly established
from Pakistan and Afghanistan in the West to Indonesia and Cambodia
in the East, Sanskrit scholarship and Aryan civilisation seem
to be getting sidelined even in their originating place Nepal
and India. We have already become slaves in economic, political,
commercial, educational and linguistic terms. Now followers of
the other religions, after giving up the political colonialism,
have entered Nepal with a long term and dangerous strategy and
with money as a means; they are attacking upon our Aryan culture
in the pretence of poverty. Therefore, we have to be aware in
time. This organisation aims to reawaken the social faith in Sanskrit
scholarship, Vedic civilisation, religion, culture in order to
protect, promote and propagate our age-old values and beliefs.
The objectives of Jayatu Sanskritam are:
a. To propagate nationwide about the need and the importance of
Sanskrit scholarship and Sanskrit language.
b. To research and collect materials and publish books and to
organise programmes in order to bring cultural renaissance in
the country
c. To translate relevant materials from Sanskrit into Nepali and
other languages and vice versa
d. To urge the government to make Sanskrit compulsory up to secondary
school level so as to correctly speak and write in the national
language and to develop faith in conventional religion and culture
e. To accelerate the activities like authoring Uttar Mahabharat
and other books as initiated by the Golden Jubilee Programme committee.
