What does Jayatu Sanskritam mean?
Jayatu Sanskritam means victory be to Sanskrit scholarship.
It means victory to all those Sanskrit related notions such as
co-existence, world fraternity, world peace, world well-being,
mutual co-operation, religious tolerance and others. In other
words, may those notions be implemented, may those Sanskrit guided
ideas come into practice, may the light of Vedic scholarship give
cool shelter to world peace creativity and world fraternity. (Vedic
mantra) The appeal for the well being and prosperity of conventional
religion, the affectionate king and holy motherland is the message
of the Jayatu Sanskritam. Jayatu Sanskritam is a movement that
stands for the ideas that each individual, each society, and each
nation of the world should be allowed to maintain their existence
and self identity, no one should be suppressed in any way, and
everyone should be allowed to use his/her identity on the basis
of freedom and identity. This is why Jayatu Sanskritam is not
a slogan of any language, castes or colour; rather it is an idea
and appeal for the prosperity, peace and well being of the humankind.
